What is Trance?
Trance state is a normal and natural shift in your awareness.
We spend most of our waking hours in a fully conscious state. We use logic, and judgement, and we make decisions.
We also routinely enter into trance states throughout the day, like when we daydream.
You experience trance states in various ways every day!
- Haven't we all had the experience of driving and suddenly realizing we've arrived at our exit or our
destination without much thought?
- Have you ever watched a movie that made you cry? Or maybe you became so involved in the story or characters that you
became angry or upset?
- Have you ever heard a song that pulled you back into a memory? You felt as if you were reliving that memory or that
moment in time?
- Do you ever wonder what it would be like to win the lottery or have a million dollars? Or think about what
it would be like to be famous or be a celebrity?
- Do you get so absorbed in a book that you could create a picture in your mind of the characters, events or setting?
- Have you ever gone over in your mind a conversation or a fight you just had with someone?
- Have you ever stared into a fire or just sat and watched the clouds?
You may be saying YES to all those experiences...but what does this all have to do with
trance?!
Each of those experiences is a state of trance!
It's just a state of focused attention or concentration
Trance is also...
...the same feeling as when you daydream, fantasize or reflect
...the feeling you get just before you fall asleep at night
...like meditating, mentally relaxing
...when you think about your upcoming vacation or holiday
...concentration, like when you're engaged in a project or activity and lose track of time
In trance state you can re-learn by allowing new experiences to happen.
