Q: What can hypnotherapy do for me?
- Q: Can anyone be hypnotized?
- You need to be an active participant in your healing process, and have a willingness to be hypnotized.
You are always in control and nothing can be done against your will.
In most cases, anyone of average intelligence can be hypnotized. The depth of trance varies with each person.
However, everyone can learn to reach deeper levels of trance.

- Q: What if I'm afraid to be hypnotized?
- It is completely normal to be nervous about your first hypnosis session. People are often led to believe
hypnosis is some sort of mind control. This is often the way hypnosis has been portrayed in the movies or by
watching a stage hypnosis performance. Hypnosis is NOT sleep, mind control or magic.
Hypnosis is gentle, safe, and effective. I always encourage my clients to discuss any concerns
they have, so that we can address them. It is important for the work that we do together, to establish open,
honest, communication and to build this foundation based on trust. It is also equally important that you feel
this is a safe place to work on your issues, and to understand that I am here to support you in your process, and I will
do what I can to ensure this level of trust and safety.

- Q: Can you be "programmed" and made to do something you don't want to do?
- This is one of the biggest myths associated with hypnosis. You are always in control;
no one can hypnotize you into doing something that is against your nature. This would include something that
violates core moral, spiritual, and ethical beliefs. Your subconscious mind is in charge of your autonomic nervous
system. This includes such things as breathing, digestion, heartbeat, and metabolism. Everything that is done for
your benefit and self-preservation originates here. Therefore you would simple reject any suggestion
that wasn't in your best interest.

- Q: What about stage hypnosis, and some of the silly things I've seen them do?
- It's important to remember, all of those people volunteer to go up on stage and be part of the "act".
They are not being "made" to do anything. Many have reported afterward that they just went along with it to
show off and to be part of the performance.

- Q: Is Hypnosis medically approved?
- Yes. In 1958 The American Medical Association, The American Psychiatric Association, as well as The
British Medical Association approved hypnosis as a viable therapeutic tool.

- Q: Can I get stuck in a hypnotized state, if something were to happen to the hypnotherapist?
- You can't get "stuck" in a hypnotized state. You would either drift off to sleep, and wake up shortly
thereafter; or you would naturally come out of the trance state when you no longer heard my voice.

- Q: Will hypnosis cripple my will? Or weaken my strength of character?
- On the contrary, hypnosis is frequently used to strengthen your will, build self-confidence and self-esteem,
and empower you to overcome obstacles in your life to finally have the life you've always wanted.

- Q: I've tried to make changes before, how will hypnosis differ from things I've tried before?
- This time it can be different! With hypnosis we not only look at the symptoms...we also address the causes.
Hypnosis allows you to connect with the subconscious mind; where your beliefs, emotions, and memories are stored.
Habitual conduct is carried out by the subconscious. I think it's important to note, that when the conscious mind and the
subconscious mind disagree; the subconscious always wins. This is why we repeat the same patterns over and over again,
even when we don't "consciously" want to, but feel powerless to stop it. With hypnosis we can replace the negative,
self-destructive habits with new "habits" that are inline with your goals and desires.
You can take control of your life!

- Q: Why is access to the subconscious mind so important?
- Your brain processes 400 billion bits of information a second, but you are only consciously aware of 2,000 of those.
This gives you some idea as to the awesome power of your mind. During hypnosis the conscious mind is allowed to rest.
Although your conscious mind is still completely aware of what is going on, hypnosis allows us access to these
other areas of your mind; namely the subconscious mind. This is important because the subconscious is where
your beliefs, memories and emotions are stored. This is where we find the heart of many issues.
Working with the subconscious, we can change negative long standing beliefs, we can edit our negative destructive
self-talk or inner dialogue. Here we can work to resolve core issues and "unplug" the emotional charge from
negative events, such as PTSD or sexual abuse. Now these events can be data from your history, instead of painful
memories that get stirred up, creating problems in your daily life.

- Q: You usually teach self-hypnosis in the second session, why is it important for you to teach me
self-hypnosis?
- After only a couple sessions you begin to understand that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis; meaning I don't DO
anything to you. I am the facilitator in your process. By learning self-hypnosis you become empowered by becoming
a facilitator in your own healing process. By learning self-hypnosis you can improve your receptiveness and
increase the effectiveness of your sessions. This not only saves you time and expense, but it expedites change as
well.

- Q: How will I know if I'm hypnotized, will it feel a certain way?
- This is another myth associated with hypnosis. You are unlikely to actually "feel" hypnotized. Everyone experiences
hypnosis in his or her own way. Often people describe it as feeling deeply relaxed or feeling as if they are
weightless.

- Q: How long are the sessions?
- You need to plan on your first session taking an hour and a half. All subsequent sessions take approximately one
hour. I tailor all my sessions to fit the needs of each individual client.

- Q: What can hypnotherapy do for me?
- Hypnotherapy can be a wonderful opportunity to truly come to know yourself, to gain perspective and learn from your
past. Hypnotherapy can change your life! This is a client-centered process, which will empower you. You can discover
your authentic self, increase self-esteem, and improve self-confidence. You can break free from the patterns of the
past. You create your reality! Create a healthier tomorrow…today!
